Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson in Twilight

Stephenie Meyer’s four Twilight Saga novels topped USA Today’s chart of the bestselling books of 2009. Three of those have already been turned into movies, all starring Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, and Taylor Lautner. The #1 on the list, The Twilight Saga: New Moon, became a surprise worldwide blockbuster when it opened in fall 2009, and it remains among the top 15 (sometimes top 12) moneymakers in the United States on a daily basis.

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, #2 on the list, will be released June 30. It’s already one of the most expected film events of 2010. Twilight is #3 on the list; it’s also the first Twilight Saga novel. The first film in the series came out in late 2008 and became a sleeper hit, launching Robert Pattinson as the film world’s latest heartthrob.

The film adaptation of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, #4, should begin shooting in the fall in Vancouver. Pattinson, Stewart, and Lautner will reprise their roles — vampire, human, werewolf — though how exactly the film’s plot will be developed remains a mystery. Screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg is still polishing up her script.

The #5 on the USA Today list is Dan Brown’s The Lost Symbol, in which Harvard prof Robert Langdon tackles the brotherhood of the Masons. Brown’s The Da Vinci Code and Angels & Demons, also featuring Langdon (played by Tom Hanks on screen) became worldwide bestsellers and blockbusters. Ron Howard was the director of both film adaptations.

Columbia has already bought the film rights for The Lost Symbol, which has a scheduled 2012 release.

Pattinson Co-star curse?

BEST KISS winners--RPattz & KStew of twilight,, by miss.ninA.Robert Pattinson and Emilie de Ravin by roxy.sixx.

Is Robert Pattinson’s sex appeal so utterly overwhelming that he’s capable of destroying relationships just by co-starring with someone?

The New York Post reports that Uma Thurman, who’s scheduled to share the screen with Pattinson in the upcoming romance flick Bel Ami, has split up with her fiancé, hedge fund manager Arki Busson, making Busson the latest in a long line of victims of what many (okay, so far, “we”) are calling The R-Pattz Co-Star Curse.

The earliest recorded instance of The R-Pattz Co-Star Curse (copyright pending) occurred early this year, when Gentlemen Broncos actor Michael Angarano, who had been dating Pattinson’s Twilight co-star Kristen Stewart, suddenly disappeared from Stewart’s life with the swiftness and completeness of a Soviet dissident.

But this was just the beginning of R-Pattz’s relationship-wrecking streak. Back in June, as she prepared to film the romantic comedy Remember Me with Pattinson, Lost star Emilie de Ravin announced that she was parting ways with her husband of three years, December Ends thesp Josh Janowicz. And thus, a pattern emerged.

And now, with Uma Thurman’s breakup, The R-Pattz Co-Star Curse has reached out to crush yet another formerly happy relationship.

If we were The Wrestler director Darren Aranofsky—who’s engaged (for now anyway) to Rachel Weisz, who’ll be co-starring with Pattinson in the upcoming historical drama Unbound Captives—we’d be pretty worried right now.

Then again, given that Aranofsky is currently preparing to film an angry, aggressive sex scene between Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis, he might have already mentally checked out of that relationship.

Readers, examine the evidence for yourselves and share your conclusions in the comments section: Do you think The R-Pattz Co-Star curse is for real?

In its eighth day of release, Summit Entertainment’s “The Twilight Saga: New Moon” crossed the double-century mark making an estimated $206.1 million.

In the first three days of the holiday frame beginning Wednesday, “New Moon” has grossed $41.4 million.

The record holder for the best Thanksgiving frame haul still belongs to the first “Harry Potter” which made $82.4 million from Wednesday through Sunday.

Steph Meyer : Robert looks like Edward in my head.

Just as he has with so many other women, Robert Pattinson has become a full-fleged citizen of Stephenie Meyer‘s fantasy world.

The usually press-shy author who gave life to Bella, Edward, Jacob and a billion-dollar media phenomenon told Oprah Winfrey today that R.Pattz and his unique and “significantly featured” face brought her visions of Edward to life.

“I knew that the problem was going to be Edward, because he’s the perfect vampire,” Meyer said in what will be her only formal interview before New Moon hits theaters Nov. 20. “How do you cast that from your pool of human actors?”

But Pattinson “doesn’t look like everybody else,” she said. “There’s something unusual. There are moments where he looks exactly like he did in my head.”

As for the role of Bella, “there’s plenty of people who look like the girl next door. We were really lucky with Kristen Stewart, who is a phenomenal actress.”

And the rest is history.

History wrought by a dream that Meyer, a first-time author who had never tried to publish anything, just happened to have.

“It was two people in kind of a little circular meadow with really bright sunlight, and one of them was a beautiful, sparkly boy and one was just a girl who was human and normal, and they were having this conversation,” the 35-year-old former stay-at-home mom recalled, describing what eventually became Chapter 13 of Twilight.

“The boy was a vampire, which is so bizarre that I’d be dreaming about vampires, and he was trying to explain to her how much he cared about her and yet at the same time how much he wanted to kill her.”

Sounds hot already.

“I got up and got the kids ready for the day, and then I sat down at the computer to write some notes, because I didn’t want to forget it,” she continued, describing the though process that led to the creation of the Twilight novels. “It was a passion and a frenzy when I started writing. I’d been bottling up who I was so long I needed an expression.”

“It was just me spending time in this fantasy world, and when it was finished, it was like, this is long enough to be a book, even. I studied literature and I loved to read, but writing to me seemed—well first of all, everybody knows you can’t make a living at writing.”

And yet here she is on Oprah, being introduced by the richest woman on TV as a “bazillionaire.”

Rob has a director in mind for Breaking Dawn.

It doesn’t take a whole of effort for Robert Pattinson to look tortured since he’s made it clear that fame is something he struggles with on a daily basis. The actor admits that he would consider giving up acting if he finds that he’s unable to live his life.

The Twilight star tells OK! magazine, “If I’m still stuck in a hotel room in 10 years time and I haven’t figured out another way to deal with it, then I would be annoyed.” Of his fame, he adds, “I just want to see what it’s really like in two to three years.”

However, he hasn’t given up acting just yet and has expressed excitement about filming Breaking Dawn and has a particular director in mind for the task. Rob says, “I think Gus Van Sant would be great to do it.”

Of course, Chris Weitz is probably sitting off to the side saying, “HELLO, I’m right here.”

Rob hasnt been darting himself!

Robert PattinsonHas Robert Pattinson been throwing darts at pictures of himself?

Reports earlier this week claimed the British actor — who was recently named the Sexiest Man In The World — got so fed up with his sex symbol status, he started skewering himself.

“Rob got a magazine cover with a picture of his face on it and pinned it to a dartboard that was in his trailer,” a source close to the star told American tabloid the National Enquirer.

“He took shots at it and asked everyone else to do the same.”

But a source close to Rob — who’s currently in Vancouver, Canada, filming the third Twilight flick, Eclipse — has played down the claims.

“Rob doesn’t throw darts at his own picture,” said the source. “He has a great sense of humor and may have joked about it.”

Rob, 23, recently revealed that he never bothers to watch his performance after he has completed a movie — because it’s like “self-flagellation” and he doesn’t want to “piss on anyone’s grave”.

“It’s like self-flagellation, so why would I bother?” British magazine The Guardian Guide quoted him as saying.

“And I didn’t want to piss on anyone’s grave. It was hard to watch my first scene in which I turn up in this funny little hat.”
