Eclipse New Website Unveiled

The latest “World of Twilight” website, this one dedicated to “Eclipse”, went online late yesterday in conjunction with the release of the final studio trailer. With only five brief sections, the site can’t be described as rich with content, but its design remains great eye candy for fans of the Twilight Saga, who are looking forward to “Eclipse”.

Both the teaser trailer (the first official release) and the theatrical trailer (the one released yesterday) can be viewed in HQ under “media”. A placeholder for a media downloads section is marked as “coming soon”. Screen shots from the film (e.g., Edward and Bella in the meadow, Bella and Jacob by the fire, and others that have widely been seen elsewhere), also appear. An official store, an “about the film” area that gives a written synopsis, and even a “community” section that lists popular fan sites appears, as well as a “coming soon” note on a “worldwide community” section. Also included (for the moment) are links back to the replay of yesterday’s live chat with Dallas Howard, Nikki Reid, and Julia Jones.

For die-hard fans, very little of the content on this official site is truly new. Indeed, wallpaper and poster downloads are already live on the official Twilight Saga Facebook site, despite not yet being downloadable on the “Eclipse” site. Still, it’s nice to be able to distinguish official news and media from rumors and manipulations. So, a big thank you to Summit for unveiling the new site—Twilight fans appreciate the effort!

Another Eclipse Trailer This Friday

Posted in Eclipse with tags on April 21, 2010 by chasingcullens

The film may not be due in theatres until June this year, but already it seems that Summit Entertainment are releasing the final trailer for The Twilight Saga: Eclipse this coming Friday – much to the disappointment of fans. Twihards expecting many more clips and trailers have been shocked to learn that the finaltrailer for the follow-up to last year’s The Twilight Saga: New Moon will be release on the Oprah show this coming Friday – leaving many to wonder what’s next for Summit Entertainments lacklustre marketing campaign.

The announcement came via Summit’s official Twitter page, whether or not the trailer will also be syndicated online the same day remains to be seen, however you would think that for such a big property, Summit would still just be gearing up for a massive marketing campaign. With that in mind I’m also scratching my head as to how they’ll be filling in the coming weeks in order to build a bigger Twilight buzz than New Moon generated last year.

// Rumors and gossip have followed the “Twilight Saga” ever since the first film created an uproar at the box office a year and a half ago.  From the personal relationship between the stars to who will direct which sequel, it’s been a non-stop job for Summit Entertainment to put out one fire after another.  That continued today.

This morning Canadian gossip site Lainey Gossip reported that reshoots of two key scenes for the forthcoming “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse” were occurring in Vancouver next week.  The pundit also floated that because of “creative differences” with the studio director David Slade wouldn’t oversee the reshoots and that former helmers Catherine Hardwicke (“Twilight”) and Chris Weitz (“New Moon”) could step in instead.  Because the outlet is based in the city and has been correct on a number stories regarding the franchise before, many media took the report with a hint of credibility which was a mistake.

HitFix has learned that Slade, who is currently overseeing the film’s score in London, would be headed to Vancouver himself to film what are obvstentively pick up shots, not reshot scenes. Pick up shots are cut into already completed scenes and can be necessary because of anything from bad lighting, a faulty print or a missing expression or line that was determined in editing.  Reshoots insinuate a completely new scene being inserted into a picture.

Additionally, a Summit spokesperson told HitFix that the shoot has been planned for months, the picture is not in “trouble” and, in fact, the studio thinks it may be the best of the three so far. Considering, this writer has heard praise for “Eclipse’s” script, that’s easy to believe. The spokesperson also noted that reshoot timing is three days or less, is not a lot of material and furthermore, they do not involve the meadow scene or any action scenes whatsoever.

Fans will be able to decide their opinion on Slade’s vision for “Eclipse” when the film opens nationwide on June 30.
