Wolf Pack Interviewed

Posted in Eclipse, Wolf Pack with tags , , on May 3, 2010 by chasingcullens

wolf‘Twilight: Eclipse’ interview with the wolf pack. Summit Entertainment is continuing to build anticipation amongst fans for the release of their third installment in their popular vampire series based on the novels by Stephenie Meyers titled “Twilight Saga:Eclipse” — and so is the LA Times. They write:

The 1950s gave us the Rat Pack. The ‘80s, the Brat Pack. These days, the Wolf Pack is roaming the film scene.

Although the “Twilight” franchise may have helped spur the vampire craze with the Cullen brood, the saga’s gang of shape-shifters is bringing sexy back to werewolves. And in “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse,” which hits theaters June 30, that’s no different.

“The Cullens are very reserved,” said Alex Meraz, who plays Wolf Pack member Paul. “They’re vampires, but they’re not out killing people. They’re not what they’re meant to be. Whereas the Wolf Pack, we’re through and through animals. We’re frisky. We’re fun. There’s something sexy about that.”

In the third installment of the franchise, the band of brotherly (and sisterly, as we’ll see) hirsute creatures joins forces with its rivals, the Cullens, after Seattle is plagued by a series of killings caused by an army of newborn vampires.

But since their computer-generated alter egos seem to be getting most of the screen time, here’s a chance to get to know the actors pre-transformation:

Alex Meraz (Paul)

At 25, Meraz is still adjusting to the whirlwind that comes with being in a blockbuster franchise. But don’t be fooled. He’s not complaining.

“Bring it on,” he said. “I was working really hard before, and it just didn’t seem to pay off. I’m just really grateful for it all.”

Before he caught the acting “virus,” Meraz — who admitted his first viewing of “Twilight” was a bootleg version — demonstrated his artistic tendencies through dance, martial arts and painting. In fact, he still breaks out the paint and brushes to maintain his sanity through all the “Twilight” pandemonium.

But it’s that pandemonium that gets him amped when talking about the movie.

“The fans are going to love this film,” he said. “I didn’t get my chance to touch anybody in ‘New Moon.’ This time I go at it with Emmett [ Kellan Lutz]. I give him a nice bitch slap. But I’m in wolf form, so maybe it’s a big paw slap?

“Oh, and there’s a lot more action. It’s more Paul wolf. You’re going to see my wolf form doing a lot of stuff. You’ll just see me running around shirtless once and a while.”

So what of all those topless scenes?

“I have a newfound respect for women. I have to keep my figure. Girls are telling me to take my shirt off. It’s like, ‘Hello! I’m a person, too!’ ”

Julia Jones (Leah Clearwater)

Bryce Dallas Howard isn’t the only new face to join the burgeoning ensemble cast. Jones will make her debut to the franchise as Leah Clearwater, the scorned and bitter sole female member of theWolf Pack.

“She’s really a tough character,” said Jones, 29. “She’s pretty angry about a lot of things that she has every right to be angry about. She’s miserable and lost and trying to cope internally without a lot of help. And she lashes out quite a bit.”

Jones may not be a household name just yet, having appeared in independent films and a few episodes of “ER,” but that will surely change for the Boston native come June. And for the woman who said she knew she wanted to be an actress after playing Michael Darling in a production of “Peter Pan” as a child, it’ll be a learning process.

“I don’t know,” Jones said. “I’m just trying to take it easy while I can. It’s going to be a new thing to figure out how to navigate this craze. I’m doing my best to prepare myself for all of it.”

Chaske Spencer (Sam Uley)

Spencer reprises his role as werewolf Sam Uley, the sometimes disgruntled leader of the Wolf Pack.

Although Spencer hasn’t exactly gotten used to the global attention — “It’s cool, the recognition. But it’s work. I know how to keep my life private” — he said he doesn’t regret the decision to join the wildly popular franchise.

“There’s a lot more offers,” said Spencer, 35. “As an actor, that’s all you can hope for: more chances to keep it going.”

Spencer is in Arizona shooting his new film “Shouting Secrets,” about a successful young writer in Los Angeles who is called back to his Native American background to tend to his ailing mother.

With the media blitz already in full effect for “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse,” Spencer said working on something completely different is a way to escape. But there’s no escaping the constant pleas for spoilers from the new flick. And like his character’s quiet, shadow-like wolf form, he only gives a whisper of details.

“This time around, Sam has to put his ego aside to take on this new breed of vampires,” Spencer said. “There’s a lot of new relationships being formed.”

As you already know, The Twilight Saga: New Moon and The Twilight Saga: Eclipse starChaske Spencer has been working closely with United Global Shift for the past few months.

Recently, several of his Twilight series co-stars stepped up to the plate to record a new public service announcement video for the campaign, including Gil Birmingham (“Billy Black”), Julia Jones (“Leah Clearwater”),Justin Chon (“Eric Yorkie”), Boo Boo Stewart(“Seth Clearwater”), and Alex Meraz (“Paul”).

The message from the PSA was as follows:

Due to recent storms, thousands of people are without water, food, power, and heat. The Native American people on the affected reservations are freezing and dying right now. Right here in the United States. The government’s response has been slow and inefficient. But this is not a Native American issue, this is a human issue. You can make a difference, you can make thedifference. We don’t need your money. We need your voice. To create a sustainable solution beyond the immediate crisis. We the people have to take a stand and be heard. It’ll take you a few minutes, but you can impact generations to come. Be the shift.

The speakers encourage viewers to visit as well.

Julia Jones Talks About Stephenie Meyer

Posted in Eclipse with tags on January 27, 2010 by chasingcullens

‘The Twilight Saga: Eclipse’ – Summit Ent.

One of the most anticipated casting announcements in the Twilight saga was that of The Twilight Saga: Eclipse‘s “Leah Clearwater.” After some speculation that the part might go to Vanessa Hudgens or Q’orianka Kilcher, it was announced that the part would be portrayed by Julia Jones.

Since then, Jones has completed filming of the Twilight saga’s third portion, and she recently did an article feature with the Boston Globe, where she reflected upon Stephenie Meyer, the filming process, and her cast mates.

Jones stated that it was easier to fulfill the role of Clearwater than it has been for other roles, since “Stephenie Meyer wrote the layers” and “there’s 3,000 pages of detail.”

Jones admitted to being a little starstruck by the Eclipse set, and she specifically mentioned the countenance of an on-set Stephenie Meyer.

“She’s kind of got this sort of God aura about her,’’ Jones says. “She lives up to it. She’s very anchored. She’s just this incredible authority and presence.’’

Similarly, Jones stated that she was impressed by her co-stars, Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner, for their abilities to handle the stress of being the headliners of this worldwide phenomenon.

Like many of the incoming cast members on the La Push end of the story, Jones took a walk down memory lane to the place where werewolves play, noting that she had become one of the wolfpack crew – jives and games though such status might entail.

Finally – and perhaps most interestingly – Jones revealed some insight into the near and coming future.

“Eclipse’’ doesn’t come out for five more months, but Jones has been warned that publicity starts soon. She’s trying to get herself ready for the madness – mall tours, meet-and-greets, and the obsessed, self-described “Twi’’-hards, who will be watching – and blogging – as she brings their Leah to life. Then there’s the fourth and final installment, “Breaking Dawn,’’ which Meyer has confirmed might be split into two movies filmed over the next few years.

Part 2 Of Julia Jones Interview

Twilight actress Julia Jones can’t wait for Eclipse to come out, and neither can fans of the Twilight movies. In part two of our exclusive interview at The Grove in Los Angeles with Julia as she shopped for her cast members, she talked about her favorite scene in New Moon and what we’ll learn about her character in the third installment of the Twilight Saga.

As the only female member of the Wolf Pack, she distinguishes herself not with a pink bow on her wolf, but tells us her wolf “is smaller than the other boys and it’s light gray.” She said that the boy wolves are “huge!”

Just like the guy wolves and the vampires, Julia had some tough physical scenes while filming Eclipse.  As she filmed her scenes of becoming a werewolf she described jumping up and landing on a mattress for the action.   “I realized after 18 takes that I was landing on the ground and I had dirt on my chin.  I couldn’t lift my arms for four days!”

Julia, who is currently starring in the Los Angeles play Palestine, New Mexico, told‘s Alexis Tereszcuk about what the cast ate at craft services and what they did during their down time while filming Eclipse.  “We ate a lot of chocolate, anything round that was throwable.”  Julia said that Taylor Lautner has the best aim out of the bunch and “it got very competitive, how many grapes or chocolates could you get in someone’s mouth.”

Julia also described that she thinks the theme of Eclipse is immortality.  “New Moon is about heartbreak.  Eclipse is about immortality.”

Watch Julia talk about filming Eclipse, which will hit theaters on June 30, 2010.

The holiday season is upon us, and we bet you’re hoping Santa brings you Rob Pattinson for Christmas, right? spent the day at The Grove in Los Angeles with Julia Jones, the lovely actress who just finished filming the third installment in the Twilight Saga: Eclipse, where she picked up presents for a few cast members and talked about her role in the record-breaking series.

Julia picked out sunglasses for heart-throb RPattz, who is “really cool to work with,” and for her co-star Kiowa Gordon because “he showed up in Vancouver with the same shades as me,” Julia said.

As the only female member of the wolf pack, Julia told us she doesn’t get any special treatment, “but I do get to wear a shirt,” she revealed.

Julia is currently starring in the Los Angeles play Palestine, New Mexico, and told’s Alexis Tereszcuk about the intense relationships formed while filming Eclipse. “We are all really close, it was really familial,” Julia said about her group of boys, and wanted to set the record straight about her annoyance with the boys on set. “I think they boys thought I was angry at them for throwing things at me, but I love them!”

Watch Julia Jones shop for the holidays, talk about who is the biggest prankster on set, and find out what it’s like to work with abs-olutely perfect Taylor Lautner!

Check back on for part two of the interview with Julia Jones where she reveals how she got bruised during filming Eclipse and what her favorite scene was in the movie that won’t be released until June, 2010. Feels like it’s just a few days away!
