Jodelle Ferland In Wonderful World

Posted in Eclipse with tags on December 22, 2009 by chasingcullens

‘The Twilight Saga: Eclipse’ – Summit Ent.

The littlest cast member of The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, Jodelle Ferland, is no newcomer to the film world.

You might remember her as “Jeliza-Rose” in Tideland and “Sharon” in Silent Hill. Of course, she’s been in quite a few other pictures over the years as well, including Good Luck Chuck, The Messengers (with Kristen Stewart), and Seed.

One of her films, Wonderful World with Matthew Broderick and Sanaa Lathan, opens in theaters on January 8th, according to MTV, and a clip of Jodelle Ferland’s performance as “Sandra” in the film has been uncovered by Twilight Lexicon.

The film follows the life of a “career proofreader” (hmm) as he files a frivolous lawsuit in a medical case. Ferland portrays the daughter of Broderick’s character in the film.

Eclipse Filming Updates

A couple of filming updates from The Twilight Saga: Eclipse came in their usual form – that is, through the wonderful world of the Twittering Twilight cast and Eclipse director David Slade – yesterday, and it seems that The Twilight Saga: Eclipse‘s filming is closing on a, well, violent note.

Last night, David Slade tweeted about filming some of the “battle” sequences.

Last day on the battlefield, shot a huge day, tomorrow there may be a party, while battles ensue on mountain tops…

Meanwhile, Jodelle Ferland (who portrays Bree in Eclipse) tweeted that it was her last day on the set.

Last day on Eclipse….=/

Earlier, Peter Facinelli had an interview with a Phoenix radio station where he talked about filming with the “bad vampires.” You can find out more about that here.

As you already knew, filming for The Twilight Saga: Eclipse is nearing a close. A couple of days ago, Slade tweeted about the fact that principle photography was nearing its end.

Just one week and a few days to go to complete principle photography, the finish line seems still so far.

While The Twilight Saga: Eclipse wraps production, The Twilight Saga: New Moon nears its theatrical release.

PFach Twittering Volturi??

It’s raining, it’s pouring, the old … friends are meeting up in the woods?

That’s the case, according to a recent tweet by Peter Facinelli, of The Twilight Saga: Eclipse‘s set in Vancouver, British Columbia.

Said he, “Meanwhile back on the set of Eclipse… It’s raining again. Today, meeting up with some old friends in the woods.”

Inquiring minds will wonder … what does this mean?

Well, as you might have guessed, it could have something to do with the Volturi.

In Eclipse, after the big fight scene showdown between the Cullens (flanked by the wolfpack) and Victoria (Bryce Dallas Howard) and her newborn army, some of the Volturi (particularly Jane (Dakota Fanning) and Alec (Cameron Bright)) arrive to see what’s going on. Of course, they come across Bree and had to have her discarded. Then, they have a back and forth with the Cullens to determine if and when Bella (Kristen Stewart) was going to be fulfilling her New Moon promise to be turned.

Two days ago, Facinelli’s Volturi co-star Bright sent a message to his The Twilight Saga: New Moon co-star Michael Sheen (who portrays Aro in the series), and said “Miss you on set.”

On the other hand, Jodelle Ferland (who plays Bree) tweeted about being on the set about two weeks ago. Of course, there is a possibility that she has been written into more than one sequence or that the Volturi’s scenes that involve her could be shot separately. Anyway, she tweeted once again about going to the infamous cast dinner with her Eclipse co-stars just three days ago as well.

As already discussed, Carlisle has history with the Volturi stemming back centuries.

So, could Facinelli’s “old friends” be the Volturi? Very possible.

Welcome Newborns

VanCity Allie has another awesome report of her account at yet another Vancouver Eclipse set! This time – the Newborns have arrived Forks! Including Xavier Samuel (aka Riley) and Jodelle Ferland (aka Bree).

Allie gives all the deets (along with fantastic pictures)  –

I had a chance to see a new set being filmed for Eclipse… the scene where the newborns arrive in Forks. It’s a picturesque scene, with mountains and water framing the background of the shot, and a sparse unoccupied beach for the newborns to arrive on… then they disappear into the forest. The vampire newborns looked absolutely chilling, and their rugged military-like outfits along with steely, determined glares just added to the mood. Filmed early in the morning, this scene was designed to look as if it had been shot at night, possibly just after dusk or just before dawn.

Riley (Xavier Samuel) and Bree (Jodelle Ferland) were on set as well as a number of newborn vampires we have NEVER seen before.

I’m always amazed at what a huge production it is to film just a few seconds for these movies. Second Unit Director EJ Foerster was on set, calm but directive… doing dozens of different takes for only a couple scenes. An amazing number of people involved plus tons of equipment and hours of filming from so many different angles just to get a 5 second shot… wow. Check out all the equipment on the shore, including the scuba diving gear and the dinghys. You can also see some of the shorter fake trees they used in the foreground on the beach.

Check out more of her detailed account and pictures – after the break!

There are two distinct scenes… scenes where the female newborn is talking to a male newborn, and the main scene (which they spent most of the time shooting) where there are three newborns including Riley coming out of the water onto the shore. They don’t come out of the water in the books, but I think it is a nice dramatic addition.

The water here was quite cool in temperature, so I’m not surprised at all to see the actors with thin wetsuits on under their costumes. They were also given small weights under their clothing to help keep them weighed down under the water before the “take”. I have my PADI scuba diving license so I was really curious about how they were using the divers for the filming. The scuba divers served two purposes: One, to give their extra regulator to the actors so they could breathe underwater when necessary… and two, to help give the actors cues and guide them to certain checkpoints when necessary.

In this scene in the video (coming soon), you’ll see the Director ask them to go underwater (”Under water!), then he counts as they are rolling with the movie cameras “OK, Riley”… then the first actor emerges (my guess is they were using “Riley” as the code word, since the first actor that emerges is NOT Riley). Then the Director calls them out “2…. and 3″… and the other actor and then Riley emerges from the water. The vampires moved slowly, slinking through the water but very clearly with purpose.

Vampires and Riley emerging

Unfortunately I didn’t get to see Jodelle film any of her scenes (that’s not her in the water), but you can see her here grabbing some food. Her makeup was already done though, as you can see how pale she looks.

You can check out the rest of Allie’s awesome update over at her blog, along with more pictures!
