// Rumors and gossip have followed the “Twilight Saga” ever since the first film created an uproar at the box office a year and a half ago.  From the personal relationship between the stars to who will direct which sequel, it’s been a non-stop job for Summit Entertainment to put out one fire after another.  That continued today.

This morning Canadian gossip site Lainey Gossip reported that reshoots of two key scenes for the forthcoming “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse” were occurring in Vancouver next week.  The pundit also floated that because of “creative differences” with the studio director David Slade wouldn’t oversee the reshoots and that former helmers Catherine Hardwicke (“Twilight”) and Chris Weitz (“New Moon”) could step in instead.  Because the outlet is based in the city and has been correct on a number stories regarding the franchise before, many media took the report with a hint of credibility which was a mistake.

HitFix has learned that Slade, who is currently overseeing the film’s score in London, would be headed to Vancouver himself to film what are obvstentively pick up shots, not reshot scenes. Pick up shots are cut into already completed scenes and can be necessary because of anything from bad lighting, a faulty print or a missing expression or line that was determined in editing.  Reshoots insinuate a completely new scene being inserted into a picture.

Additionally, a Summit spokesperson told HitFix that the shoot has been planned for months, the picture is not in “trouble” and, in fact, the studio thinks it may be the best of the three so far. Considering, this writer has heard praise for “Eclipse’s” script, that’s easy to believe. The spokesperson also noted that reshoot timing is three days or less, is not a lot of material and furthermore, they do not involve the meadow scene or any action scenes whatsoever.

Fans will be able to decide their opinion on Slade’s vision for “Eclipse” when the film opens nationwide on June 30.

No Plans For Another Eclipse Trailer

Posted in Eclipse with tags , on March 13, 2010 by chasingcullens

‘The Twilight Saga: Eclipse’ – Summit Ent.

No doubt, in the tradition of the Twilight series films, there will be tons of The Twilight Saga: Eclipse content revealed before the film actually makes it to theaters.

However, now’s reportedly not the time to get amped up about anything other than the first trailer.

According to Gossip Cop, there are no immediate plans to produce another trailer any time soon.

“Gossip Cop spoke with a rep for Summit Entertainment who told us there will (of course) be a new trailer at some point, but right now there’s ‘no talk… nothing in the works,'” the site reports.

As you already knew, a new editor was brought onto the film just a few days ago, so it’s entirely possible that it’ll take a little bit of time for her to get acclimated to the new material.

Chances are, with at least this one trailer in hand, time will fly by until the second trailer is released.

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse

Summit Entertainment will unveil online the first trailer for The Twilight Saga: Eclipse Thursday morning at 6:00 AM PST/9:00 AM EST. The 90-second trailer’s contents are being kept under tight wraps until its debut. Prior to this, on Wednesday, March 10 a 10-second teaser of that trailer will come online at about 6:00 AM PST/9:00 AM EST.

The full trailer is also being played in theaters in front of Summit Entertainment’s Remember Me, which also stars Robert Pattinson.

In The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, Bella once again finds herself surrounded by danger as Seattle is ravaged by a string of mysterious killings and a malicious vampire continues her quest for revenge. In the midst of it all, she is forced to choose between Edward and Jacob – knowing that her decision has the potential to ignite the struggle between vampire and werewolf. With her graduation quickly approaching, Bella is confronted with the most important decision of her life.

Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner reprise their roles as Bella Swan, Edward Cullen and Jacob Black. The film is directed by David Slade, based on the novel “Eclipse” by Stephenie Meyer, with a screenplay by Melissa Rosenberg. The movie hits conventional theaters and IMAX on June 30, 2010.

New Editor For Eclipse

Entertainment Weekly’s Hollywood Insider blog says that Summit Entertainment has pulled editor Art Jones off of David Slade’s Eclipse, the third movie in The Twilight Saga. Nancy Richardson who edited the first Twilight film for Catherine Hardwicke has been brought on board.

Why is this of note? Despite the constant argument of whether or not Twilight is “horror” or not, David Slade (who helmed 30 Days Of Night) jumping on board to direct arguably the “darker” chapter of the vampire series was at the very least intriguing. Art Jones edited both Hard Candy and 30 Days Of Night for Slade and was consistent with the director’s style. Does bringing on the editor of the first Twilight mean the studio’s trying to steer it away from dark territory?

The studio suggests that they just needed a stronger edit and have more confidence in Richardson, who they say understands the emotion of the characters and is an ace at balancing action with the other elements of the film.

Eclipse opens June 30th, 2010.

David Slade to direct Raimi's 'Shadow'?Rex Features

Sam Raimi has recruited David Slade to direct his film adaptation of The Shadow, says Latino Review.

Raimi, a long-time fan of the pulp character, has allegedly stepped aside from helming the picture and will instead serve as a producer with 30 Days Of Night‘s Slade in the director’s chair. Slade’s next film, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, is due out this summer.

The rights for the Shadow film have also switched hands from Sony to 20th Century Fox after Raimi began courting a new home for the project.

The Shadow was previously made into a movie in 1994 with Alec Baldwin in the title role. The character first appeared in radio plays aired during the ’30s and ’40s.

Eclipse Trailer Gets A Date!

Posted in Eclipse with tags , on February 21, 2010 by chasingcullens

Summit Entertainment has confirmed our suspicions by announcing via Twitter that the first trailer for The Twilight Saga: Eclipse will debut in front of Summit’s own Remember Me.

A similar tactic was used by the studio to debut the trailer for The Twilight Saga: New Moon when Summit attached it to the Vanessa Hudgens teen dramedy Bandslam. That filmed failed to see much of a lift from the New Moon trailer, but Remember Me happens to star none other than Twilight’s own Robert Pattinson and could see a sizable lift.

Remember Me and the Eclipse trailer will both premiere on March 12, roughly one week before the New Moon Blu-ray and DVD debuts with its promised 7 minutes of various Eclipse material including interviews with Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner.
