Posted in Awards/Events with tags , , on March 26, 2010 by chasingcullens

Yesterday, three stars of The Twilight Saga: New Moon and The Twilight Saga: Eclipse – Daniel Cudmore, Christian Serratos, and Alex Meraz – made their way to the Oceana Naval Exchange in Virginia Beach to visit members, dependents, and retirees of the military who were pre-selected to attend.

According to Hampton Roads, the 300 pre-selected autograph recipients were but a drop in the bucket of the amount present to see the three.

An “estimated 2,350 came to see actors Christian Serratos (Angela), Alex Meraz (Paul) and Daniel Cudmore (Felix), who also got a tour of the base,” and Nikki Reed and Tyson Houseman were originally scheduled to attend but got sick and were unable to come.

The Twilight Saga: New Moon wasn’t Daniel Cudmore‘s first time on the big fandom film circuit. He was, prior to becoming “Felix” in New Moon and Eclipse, the X-Men series’ Colossus.

X-Men, of course, has its own devoted following, but, according to Daniel Cudmore in his recent interview with Twilight Lexicon, the series did not prepare him “at all” for what Twilight had to offer in the way of fans.

Lately, Cudmore’s gotten a good read on Twilight fans due to his frequency on the official Twilight convention tour list with Creation Entertainment.

Twilight, he revealed, has “definitely gotten me in doors whereas before they might’ve said ‘Eh, not really sure if we wanna see him’ . . . so I can’t say enough of how great it’s been to be a part of this Saga.”

He’ll team up with other Hollywood names and members from the New Orleans Saints to take on some of the “Twilight” cast.

Facinelli, who plays father figure Carlisle Cullen, was originally signed on, but he’s no longer on the roster.

Facinelli leaves behind wolf pack members Chaske Spencer who plays alpha-wolf Sam, Alex Meraz who plays Paul and Tyson Houseman who plays Quil. Daniel Cudmore, who plays Felix, is the sole vamp left.

Proceeds from the Celebrity Vampire Baseball game will go to benefit Haiti disaster relief. Fans will get an opportunity to meet the stars and get autographs.

Today, The Twilight Saga: New Moon and The Twilight Saga: Eclipse star Daniel Cudmore turns twenty-nine years young!

Cudmore has been an actor and stunt double since 2003, when he portrayed “Colossus” in X2. He returned for the sequel, X-Men: The Last Stand and also worked on films such as Alone In The Dark and Driven To Kill.

Currently, Cudmore is working on a A Night For Dying Tigers, and he has all intentions of progressing even further in the film world. He revealed, back in June, that he enjoys both acting and stuntwork. “I really enjoy both the acting and the stunts; they both complement each other,” he said.

Daniel Cudmore must have received quite a few birthday messages today because he sent a message on his Twitter page, saying “All the B-day wishes have been great, thanks everyone! but I’m only 21 not 29….. weird.” Aren’t we all? Ha!

New Moon Stars Reacts To Avatar

‘Avatar’ – Twentieth Century-Fox

The buzz on Avatar continues to sound, even past the film reaching the $1 billion mark in ticket sales. Avatar was released on December 18th in the U.S., and already it has earned over $1.3 billion on the world market.

Clearly, then, the film has reached the far corners of the world and has made a very blue mark upon its viewers.

The cast of The Twilight Saga: New Moon and The Twilight Saga: Eclipse is no exception, and they’ve been tweeting about the film here and there.

Here is a round-up of what the Twilight cast has been saying about Avatar:

  • “Avatar was like watching the entire history of the Americas in 3 hours except it ended differently.” Alex Meraz
  • “Went to see Avatar yesterday. Me likey. X” Jamie Campbell Bower
  • “Nice flick.” Gil Birmingham
  • “AVATAR! James Cameron is one of the greats.” Kiowa Gordon
  • “Just got LOST in Avatar” Charlie Bewley
  • “how does the chipmunks beat avatar in the box office” Justin Chon
  • “wait for James Cameron to do Av[a]tar 2! Av[a]tar was soo frikin amazing….please hire me!!!” Daniel Cudmore

Interesting responses, huh?

He might portray one of the biggest bad guys in The Twilight Saga: New Moon and The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, but ask anyone who’s met Daniel Cudmore and they’ll tell you he’s nothing if not nice.

So, if you happen to be in the Dallas, Texas area at the end of the month, it might be a good time to stop by and say “hello.”

Cudmore will be appearing at the Dallas Comic Con on Saturday, January 30th to sign autographs and meet with fans, according to Pegasus News.

The event will take place at the Richardson Civic Center in Richardson, and all the details you could possibly need are available here.
